Maryborough

A former goldmining town, Maryborough is situated on the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, 160km NW of Melbourne. Today, Maryborough is the centre of a farming district and has several industries.

Main Attractions

Legacies of gold boom times include many historic buildings, particularly the McLandress Square historic buildings, which includes the Court House, Town Hall and Post Office. Maryborough's jewel in the crown is its famous Railway Station. The information centre, an antique gallery and woodwork shop are located in the old station. Brochures on a self-guided Historic Buildings Drive are available from the information centre. The Worsley Cottage Complex and Museum, located in Palmerston St, is open on Tuesdays and Sundays. The Central Goldfields Art Gallery, located in Neill St in the old fire station, hosts travelling exhibitions.
