Wandin North

Wandin North also referred to as Wandin and Wandin Yallock is an attractive, historic town based in Victoria's popular Yarra Valley.


Main Attractions

Katandra Gardens, a magnificent eight acre garden, overlooking the panoramic Yarra Valley and distant ranges features one of Victoria's premier collections of Australian Wildflowers.

Mont De Lancey sits high on a hill near Katandra Gardens, with the mountain ranges as a backdrop, this 1880's pioneer home sits lovingly restored and furnished by the Wandin community. The house, built of hand made bricks produced on the site, was finished in 1880's. On weekends, you may watch blacksmiths at work in the purpose built blacksmiths facility. During the week, you may see one of the local schools participating in activities of the late 1800's. Martha's tearoom is available for light lunches (licensed) and Devonshire teas from Wednesdays to Sundays.

Warratina Lavender farm cover 6 acres and offers personalised tours through the 'Drying Shed' where the lavender is processed directly from the field. Elmswood Estate is an attractive winery with breathtaking views.

Nearby attractions

The Warbuton Rail Trail runs through Wandin. Built in 1901, the railway line from Warburton once carried produce to Melbourne and delivered tourists to the area on the return trip. Today it is an exciting trail ride or series of short walks. Look out for kangaroos, bird life and spring wildflowers between Lilydale and Mt Evelyn, and butterflies and tree ferns on the way to Wandin.
