DESTINATION: Wodonga

Wodonga

Wodonga lies on the south bank of the Murray River, close to the historic towns of Yackandandah, Beechworth and Chiltern, and the wineries of Rutherglen. Wodonga, on the Victorian side of the river, is twinned with Albury, on the New South Wales side.

Main Attractions

A number of attractions can be found on the Lincoln Causeway, the only road link between Wodonga and Albury. The Gateway Visitors Complex features art, craft, woodturning, pottery and jewellery. Also popular are the Fitness Trail and the Wiradjuri Walkabout Aboriginal Heritage Trail. Harvey's Native Fish Farm with mini-golf, mini-train rides and animals is a perfect place for children. Visitors can also catch their own fish. On the third Sunday of each month, a miniature railway runs in Diamond Park, accessed off the Causeway. Another attraction is the National Museum of Australian Pottery, a museum dedicated to 19th-century Australian potters.

The Victorian Alps cover a vast and rugged terrain that is mostly protected by national parks. The ski-resort towns dotting the mountains are within an hours radius of each other. Many other recreational activities attract visitors in warmer months. more
