Australind

Australind is a small coastal resort situated on the Leschenault Inlet, 11km NE of Bunbury. Bordered by the inlet and the Collie and Brunswick rivers, it is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts who enjoy fishing, prawning, crabbing, boating, sailing and windsurfing. A curious note of history, the town's name originates from the 1840s proposed port venture with India (Australia-India).

Main Attractions

The compact jarrah-built Church of St Nicholas (1840), located on Paris Rd, measures 3.8m by 6.7m, claiming the distinction of being the state's smallest church. Opposite is Henton Cottage built in 1841. It was originally the Prince of Wales Hotel and now houses a real estate agency. The Featured Wood Gallery, on Piggot Dr, has works fashioned from old and new timbers.
