DESTINATION: Collie
This town is nestled in jarrah timber country, 57km east of Bunbury. Collie produces 3.25 million tonnes of coal annually from nearby open-cut mines. Main AttractionsSeveral attractions reflect the town's central position in the State's only coal-producing region. The excellent Coalfields Museum displays pioneering and mining memorabilia together with a large doll collection. The Steam Locomotive Museum and the informative Collie Tourist Coal Mine; a replica of an underground mine, are worthwhile visiting. There are several parks for picnics and leisurely strolls including Soldiers Park, in Steere St, with an Arboretum opposite, and in Throssell St, are Baarnimar Reconciliation Park, with fine examples of Aboriginal art, and Finlay Gardens. A Historic Walk brochure highlights notable sites and an Art and Craft Gallery is situated behind the information centre. |

Wellington Dam, 28km SW, is perfect for picnics, fishing and bushwalking, while north is Harris Dam, the town's scenic reservoir.
