DESTINATION: WaginA 9m-high statue of a merino ram is an appropriate icon for the rural service town of Wagin, 177km east of Bunbury. Originally established in 1889 as an important point on the Great Southern Railway, the town is today surrounded by thriving sheep, cattle, grain and emu farms. Main AttractionsWagin Historical Village on Kitchener St recreates the daily life as it would have been 100 years ago in the settlement town. A one-room school, blacksmith, settlers' cottages and wool museum are among the interesting and informative attractions in the village. Heritage trails trace these and other historic town buildings including the Little Gem Theatre. |
