We spent most of our lives in Western Australia, working hard. On a trip to Europe, wished we could live there. Then travelled to Tasmania, where we were surprised how much like Europe it was. The rest is history, we began our relocation to Tassie. Set up our Bed & Breakfast and Motorhome Hire businesses, and began the life we dreamed of. We have now been in Tasmania for nearly two years.

COCKLE CREEK

gssmith | 2010-12-13 | COCKLE CREEK is the furtherest south you can go. There is nothing between it and Antartica. It has loads of history, both interesting and sad. There is abundant seafood for the taking. Many signposted walks, and plenty to do. It is for camping/caravaning only. No 5 stars here...only 50million!! | read more

AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS IN COLES BAY

gssmith | 2010-10-22 | Took the Motor home away for a few days of pleasure and relaxation to Coles Bay. We always stay at Freycinet National Park, as it is closer to the bay and so much cheaper, with beautiful trees and bush around you. You only hear the sound of the waves, birds and the wind whispering through the tall trees. Magic place. | read more

Trip to Bruny Island and Dover Area

gssmith | 2010-08-29 | Took our motor home away for three days of utter bliss. Went to Bruny Island for two nights, and Dover area for another two nights. This neck of the woods is just awesomely beautiful.....there isn't enough adjectives to describe how much beauty! As we are self contained, we stayed in caravan parks....needed to use electricity for the heater, as it does get cold down here in the south. But oh so worth it. | read more

Winter in Tasmania - Why Not?

gssmith | 2009-11-20 | Winter in Tasmania? Want to see and play in snow? Rug up, take the chance to see some amazing sights before it becomes just as busy as summer. There are defined seasons in Tassie. If you are not quite up to winter, try Autumn or Spring - they all have GREAT things to offer. For me, seeing snow was the best thing, and walking in the snow when the sun is shining with a clear blue sky....amazing! | read more

0.0 ARTHUR RIVER NORTHWEST COAST AND INLAND

Photo gssmith | 2010-07-16 | Arthur River is a quaint sea side town offering river trips and a very rugged coast, made evident from the huge tree trunks that line the shoreline. The inland end of Arthur River is more serene and picuresque, with so much to see and do. Many Forest Reserves to do short walks, my favourite was Julius River Forest Reserve. South Arthur River Forest Drive is brilliant in itself. Well worth a trip up that way. | read more

WALLS OF JERRUSELUM by Gail Smith posted on 2011-02-18 22:18 0 comment(s)
Walls of Jerruselum walk was just amazing. We feel so empowered to have done it together. Franky suffered on the way up, due to lack of uphill training, and too much weight. I sufffered on the way down, due to my phobia of falling!! So, we both conquered a lot really. The scenery the whole way is fantastic...I guess that why there were so many Europeans doing the walk. Which is good for Tasmania's Tourism word getting out there!!??? I wonder if many Tassy folk know or have done one of the many walks that Tassy has to offer. If we want Tassy to be known for tourism, we need to be able to tell them about what wonderful things there are on offer.

FIRST YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY by Gail Smith posted on 2010-08-02 18:50 0 comment(s)
Cant believe it been one year since our wonderful wedding day. We spent the day reliving each moment of a year ago. Each time thinking that werent stressed like this time last year. We are very pracitical people, and so didnt buy useless gifts for each other...hoping that we got the right thing? Instead we spent the day with each other buying what we both liked for ourselves together. We had wanted a new outdoor setting for the guest deck, and a fruit and olive tree in large pots.....so that's what we did. On our return journey from that, we had a lovely lunch watching the ocean - blissful.
Top end of Tassie by Gail Smith posted on 2010-07-27 19:07 0 comment(s)
I have just written to a client wishing to hire our Motor home, about the wonderful things to do and see in our area. I realised how much I have to share with you all about this wonderful neck of the woods. It never ceases to amaze me just how beautiful it is here. If you believe in a higher being, you have to pay homage to this creation. I have seen much of Australia and indeed Europe, and I have come to realise just how lucky we are to live in such beauty. The ever changing fields remind me of Tuscany (Italy), the undulating farm lots remind me of the UK, and just the driving around the whole area has a rural feel of France. Yet we dont have to fly long distances to get here, nor change money, nor worry about our safety from terrorists. How lucky are we?
