Business Review a Guide for Business Owners

planbooktravel is committed to providing well rounded, well researched, real, honest, useful and inspiring editorial. Our policy on businesses reviews is no different and is based on the principles of being fare and reasonable (editorial policy).

All content produced by members is linked to the contributing member home page 'my place' which we do to ensure that members take ownership and responsibility of the content they produce.

All content produced on planbooktravel is submitted to editors for review before publishing.

We require authors of Business Reviews to identify themselves as either 'traveller' or 'business' so readers can take this into consideration, when relying on the content.

We notify businesses when their products and services have been reviewed and when their ratings have been changed and offer business management the right to reply.

We also offer members the opportunity to report questionable content to site editors for review.

Despite this approach and our trust in our site members, businesses and community, we will occasionally experience breaches where reviews violate our guidelines.

To proactively and swiftly address breaches to site policy we endeavor to:

  • - Remove the business review(s) immediately from the site.
  • - Take steps to ensure that the offending party in question will be penalized be they traveller or business. Penalties are typically removal of listing, removal of account or public acknowledgment of breach.
  • - Post a message on the site addressing the issue in question at the relevant item, be that to alert travellers that the business review was retracted or to alert travellers that the property in question was found to produce its own business review by acknowledging the owner as he author.
  • - Site management reserve the right to take what ever actions best fits the violation.

Note for property owners and management – YOU MUST identify yourself as the Author!

Businesses are provided many opportunities to promote their business and their location on the planbooktravel network through listings, articles, forums, blogs and photos. Business reviews are a great vehicle to describe your business and services but they are not a vehicle to sell, advertise or promote your services or products using pricing, availability dates, specials and so on. Businesses must take responsibility in understanding how the different services can be utilised and work within the planbooktravel guidelines.

As a guide: the business review is designed to provide all travellers a current, honest and real representation of a user's experience of your property. A single sentence summary of how each of the site tools can be used can be found here.

To respond to the content of a business review, please use the comments feature below the item or submit a request to site editors by emailing: and add “management response for 'business name' " in the subject line.
