Grenfell the birthplace of Henry Lawson, haunt of notorious bushranger, Ben Hall, and home to some of the finest examples of heritage architecture in rural Australia, is a must see destination.

Grenfell, located in Central New South Wales is a leisurely half-day drive from Sydney, or a couple of hours from Canberra. Grenfell offers visitors the chance to relive the nostalgia of a time when life moved at a more leisurely pace.

Grenfell is part of Weddin Shire and comprises Grenfell and the villages of Greenethorpe, Quandialla and Caragabal. South-west of Grenfell (18 kilometres) are the Weddin Mountains National Park. This pristine area is a great place for bushwalking, bird watching, camping or picnicking. The wildflowers bloom during spring and summer and just a short walk from Ben Hall’s Cave campground is the amazing Seaton’s Farm.

A number of annual festivals and events promotes Grenfell’s beautiful and friendly atmosphere. These include the Henry Lawson Festival of Arts, always held on June Long Weekend; Guinea Pig Races – for racing with a difference, held Easter and June Long Weekends; and Grenfell’s Open Day, held in October which highlights to visitors Grenfell’s history, attractions and local amenities.

The Grenfell Motel, hotels and a caravan park west of town, accommodate visitors. The surrounding district of Grenfell contains many unique Bed and Breakfast and Farmstays for visitors who are looking for a more personal approach or wanting to enjoy a true slice of country life.
