Inverell Area - Inverell

Inverell is located on the western edge of the New England Tablelands, nestled in a picturesque valley beside the Macintyre River. Inverell’s proud past is noticeable by the town centre with its beautiful restored buildings, plus an excellent Pioneer Village with its authentic buildings.

The area is known to produce many fine gemstones and you can try your luck in areas set aside for fossicking or visit several locations to see these on display.

Mighty Copeton & Pindari Dams are where many fishermen can be found pulling in various fish species. Filled with fantastic areas to spend a day, weekend or week beside the water; enjoying all water sports and activities. Summer releases from Copeton Dam offer the adventurer to experience white water rafting.

The district boasts many attractions which allow the visitor to experience a diverse range of activities. Fossick for gems and minerals especially sapphires, beautiful creations by local artists. Local wines can be sampled and view one of the largest collections of cars at the Transport Museum.

The modern commercial centre is renowned for their warm & friendly services and there is a full range of accommodation from well appointed B&B’s, country pubs, motel, caravan parks and pleasant camping grounds.

Sample true country hospitality when you visit Inverell, the “Sapphire City”.
