Located 52 kilometres north of Geraldton and 474 kilometres north of Perth via the Brand Highway, Northampton is a small and attractive town in undulating country on the edge of the wheat belt.

Springtime is wildflower time in historic Northampton when the area becomes a blaze of colour. Use the town and its range of accommodation as a base to explore the surrounding countryside and its amazing floral displays.

Northampton is one of the oldest settlements in Western Australia outside of Perth. It was declared a town site in 1864, some 20 years after rich copper deposits were discovered at Wanerenooka Hill. The town was awarded 'Historical Town' status by the National Trust in 1993.

The Northampton/Horrocks Beach/Port Gregory area is also steeped in historical significance, from Aboriginal cave paintings near the Bowes River mouth to the various buildings constructed by convicts in the 19th century.

There is a range of accommodation available including bed and breakfast, backpackers, hotel/motels, a caravan park and farm and station stays.

Dining is available at hotels, a nearby historic homestead, a cafe, and takeaway outlets.
