Hawaiian Ride for Youth - Albany
The Hawaiian Ride for Youth is an annual fundraising event for Youth Focus.
The Hawaiian Ride for Youth is a bike ride from Albany to Fremantle which covers 700 kilometres and takes place over five days. Forty cyclists travel through the Western Australian regional towns of Albany, Denmark, Walpole, Pemberton, Margaret River, Busselton and Bunbury, stopping along the journey at local schools and communities to share their joy for riding, and to educate the community about early signs associated with youth suicide, depression and self harm.
The riders train three to four times per week over a six month period in preparation for the event. In additions to this heavy schedule, the cyclists also devote significant time to fundraising. In 2008 the Hawaiian ride for Youth raised over AUD665,000.
