Quick Tips for Travel Writers

This How-to applies to: Any version.
This How-to is intended for: Any audience.

Suggestions for those wishing to write inspiring travel content.

Purpose

For those who are interested in writing and would like to try their hand at writing travel articles on planbooktravel but may not no where to start...

Prerequisities

You will first need to have joined planbooktravel.com.au and created a home page 'My Place'. Once you are logged into the site go to Travel Guides. To write an article, blog, review or to add a photo go to the section and select 'add' or go to the 'my folder' link at the top right of the page.

This will only be visible when logged in. You are now ready to go.

Step by step

* Research! Use the Internet and travel guides to read up on the area before you go.  Try to find some interesting stories or history about the location/area that may help give your review a fun and interesting angle.  If the area is known worldwide, mention a fact or location that many people don’t know or see when they read or come here.

* Inspire!  The reader will want you to show them why this place was so interesting, vibrant, haunting or exhilarating!  Mention that you had a relaxing time BECAUSE of the constant chatter of the birds in the rain-forest coupled with the rhythmic pulse of the shore break on your deserted beach, was a far cry from mad rush of Bondi Junction only 2 hours drive away.

* Think about what type of readers your travel review will attract.  If you visit a wine region/winery you may want to have some information that would interest not only the wine connoisseur but also information that will appeal to the curious traveller who may not have considered a visit to a winery before. What would be of genuine interest to both these two types of reader?

* A picture tells a thousand words.  You should always support your review with some suitable photographs supporting the topic(s) in your review.  Try to get them to fit in with the angle of your story.  Eg. Include an interesting photograph of your dusty but proud 4WD convoy if you have been on a 4WD adventure.
