Lake Barrington Outdoor Leadership Centre offers hostel style accommodation at Lake Barrington near Sheffield. There are nine dormitories that accommodate 45 persons in total. It has communal cooking, laundry and bathroom facilities, car parking, and is a non- smoking establishment.

Lake Barrington is located in Tasmania's north west, in a rich agricultural area with ready access to the highlands and lake districts. The region's many small towns feature historic buildings, local craft galleries and markets.

Lake Barrington is 20 kilometers long and provides an international standard rowing course. The course is used for rowing, skiing and canoeing competitions, and ideal for power boating and model yachting.

Theres plenty to do here; swimming, fishing for trout or black fish, walking in

the Lake Barrington State Recreation Area: 183 hectares of native forest where you’re sure to meet some of Tasmania’s endemic birds and wildlife: yellow-throated honeyeaters, the raucous yellow-tailed black cockatoo, the small brown thornbill, attractive flame robins, dusky robins, and scrub wrens, brown bandicoot, Bennetts wallaby, pademelon and the small (but fascinating) potoroo, which has almost disappeared from mainland Australia

Lake Barrington is just a short drive from the famous World Heritage Area, Cradle Mountain -Lake St Clair National Park.
