Central North and Cradle Mountain | Tasmania
From the city of Devonport, port of the Spirit of Tasmania, to the rugged country towards Cradle Mountain, this is a region of interest and variety - charming towns and historic buildings, beaches, forests and craggy peaks, fine flavours, fertile farmland and friendly people.
Visit The Great Western Tiers, known to the Aboriginal people as Kooparoona Niara .a timeless landscape of mountains and valleys, forest and open plains. Beneath the surface are extensive limestone caves in the Mole Creek Karst National Park. This is a creative region - Deloraine holds the southern hemisphere’s largest working craft fair. In Westbury, Deloraine and Latrobe there are well-preserved reminders of earlier days. In the antique shops you can search out treasures - the glow of cedar, the patterning of birds-eye Huon pine or the shine of silver. Latrobe’s Axeman’s Hall of Fame and Timberworks, celebrates the timber industry heritage, while on the land, farms harvest the bounty of rich soils. This is a land of milk and honey and of sweet berries and fresh vegetables, grass-fed beef and superb farm cheeses.
Inland, Mt Roland overlooks fertile pastures around Sheffield, the town of murals. Nearby is the international rowing course at Lake Barrington.
Now the road winds into the wilderness. From Dove Lake, the craggy profile of Cradle Mountain beckons. Returning to the coast, roads pass through Wilmot’s dairy country and croplands towards the Leven Canyon and Gunns Plains Caves. On Bass Strait’s shores, there’s a bright welcome in Ulverstone and Penguin.

Winter in Tasmania? Want to see and play in snow? Rug up, take the chance to see some amazing sights before it becomes just as busy as summer. There are defined seasons in Tassie. If you are not quite up to winter, try Autumn or Spring - they all have GREAT things to offer. For me, seeing snow was the best thing, and walking in the snow when the sun is shining with a clear blue sky....amazing!

Great weekend spent in Hawley Beach using the great facilities provided. Fished, walked, played beach cricket and just enjoyed the great sunny weather. Then had a scenic drive to Tomahawk and Pipers River through Turnes Marsh to Launceston. WONDERFUL FEW DAYS in this great area of Tasmania

Well, you can tell summer is on its way. Plenty of enquiries to visit this amazing state of ours. We have had a lot of interest already, especially in the FOOD available. Word must be out on the freshest garden to table vegetables. The taste is so much different to shop bought...no instectisides!!

Once again took advantage of Paradise Motorhome Hire not being busy last weekend, and took it to Coles Bay. Enjoyed three days of luxury camping if you can call it that. Had all the mod cons....even the coffee maker! We always check out the other motorhomes and caravans where we stay, and always come away thinking that the layout of Paradise Motorhome Hire is so much more user friendly.

Your transport and accommodation in one, what could be better than that. Go anywhere, stop anywhere.....only you dictate what you want to do and where. Complete freedom to do as you please. Not confined to being a place by a certain date, so if you like a place, you can stay extra time. Likewise, if you dont, you move on. Having solar panel and 12vlt expands where you can go too.

Gunns Plains is a small rural valley situated just 30 minutes from Devonport, Tasmania. A 10 minute coastal drive west, and then 15 minutes south of Ulverstone, and you will end up at one of the most picturesque valleys along the north west coast.
