Under Down Under Tours, based in Hobart is Tasmania’s leading low-cost adventure tour operator.. We are Tasmanian owned and operated, our reservations team, office and operations are located in Tasmania’s capital city, and so are true locals!

We are a National Tourism Accredited business and are proud to have attained Eco-tourism accreditation.

We are currently looking at implementing carbon-offsetting measures to all of our tours to give something back to the earth as we go and have introduced many carbon emission reduction policies.

Our customers can choose from a wide range of over 25 different tour options taking in the best parts of Tasmania by bus or bike.

We travel in small groups using comfortable, air-conditioned suitable vehicles with luggage trailers (and custom-built bike trailers for cycle tours).

Our tours feature friendly, personalised hospitality, authenticity, down to earth professionalism, quality and value for money. The tours focus on nature with emphasis on environment interpretation. We are not an 18-35’s party bus or bus pass.

We stay in hostel or hotel accommodation depending on your budget, and include most meals, except dinners.

We offer departures out of Tasmania’s three major gateways: Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.

Two Days East Coast Tour
Head for the beaches on day one via a short stop at the historic town of Ross. At Freycinet National Park, sink your feet into the pristine white sand and admire the world-famous beach at Wineglass Bay. Finish the day in sleepy Bicheno, home to the Little Penguins who return to their rookeries each night upon dark. On day two, soak up the coastal scenery along one of Australia’s greatest journeys from Bicheno to St Helens. Stretch your legs and revitalise your senses with a peaceful beachwalk at the Bay of Fires. Visit the rainforests and waterfall at St Columba Falls, before heading into the pretty colourful city of Launceston.
Three Day Extreme East Tour
This three day trip takes you along Tasmania’s east coast from Hobart to Launceston. First visit the Tasman Peninsula, and a short walk to take in views over the Southern Ocean. Then explore the Port Arthur Historic Site and learn about the life of a convict in a place once considered “Hell On Earth”. Take the opportunity to view the site as the convicts would have from aboard a cruise boat on the harbour, then unwind on the return to Hobart via Richmond. On day two, head for the beaches via a short stop at the historic town of Ross. Take a day out to visit to the photogenic Tasman Peninsula. Join a short walk with spectacular views over the Southern Ocean. Explore one of Tassie’s tourist hotspots, the Port Arthur Historic Site. Take the opportunity to view the site as the convicts would have from aboard a cruise boat on the harbour, then unwind on the return to Hobart via Richmond.
One Day Cradle Mountain Tour
Spend a full day exploring Cradle Mountain, Tasmania’s favourite dramatic mountain peak and the focal point in this World Heritage listed area. Immerse yourself fully in the home of Tasmania’s (and Australia’s) best bushwalking trails. Join a group walk around Dove Lake or take to the trails yourself and explore one of the numerous boardwalks and trails.
Three Days Wild West Coast Tour
This three day tour takes you from Launceston or Devonport, around the west coast and finishes in Hobart. Spend the day at Cradle Mountain exploring some of the numerous walks within the world heritage listed national park. Take a stroll around Dove Lake, or head off to test your lungs with a hike to Marion’s Lookout or on one of the many other great walks. On day two head from the mountains to Strahan, climb Henty Sand Dunes and stroll along the endless stretch of Ocean Beach with nothing but the wild “Roaring Forties” between you and South America. On your final day, head south and inland today with a short walk to Nelson Falls, and take a drink from the famous Franklin River. Drop in at Lake St Clair then finish the day at Mt Field National Park and photogenic Russell Falls. Hug a tall tree then relax on your way back to Hobart through the picturesque Derwent Valley.
Six Day Super Six Tour
Start your trip with a visit to one of Tassie’s tourist hotspots, the Port Arthur Historic Site. Unwind on the return to Hobart via Richmond. Head east on day two and make the first stop at the historic town of Ross. Then over at Freycinet National Park, admire the world-famous beach at Wineglass Bay. Finish the day in the surf town of Bicheno. On day three, soak up the coastal scenery along one of Australia’s greatest journeys from Bicheno to St Helens. Visit Bay of Fires, St Columba Falls, and then finish the day in the colourful city of Launceston. Eight Day Bloomin' Lot Tour
This Eight day tour is a combination of our Famous Five day tour plus historic Port Arthur, Tasmanian Devil Park, South-West National Park, Hastings Caves and the ultimate wildlife encounter, the Bruny Island Cruise. Tour itinerary may change due to weather conditions. Visit Richmond, then the Tasman Peninsula for views over the Southern Ocean. Explore Port Arthur Historic Site including a harbour cruise, followed by the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park. On day two travel south through the Huon Valley to Cockle Creek at the edge of Recherché Bay, and the Southwest National Park. Walk to Fishers Point and learn about the whales that frequent these parts. Enjoy the serenity or a quick swim before a short drive to Hastings Cave for a guided tour. Maybe have a swim in the thermal pool before returning to Hobart. On day three travel to Kettering to get the ferry to Bruny Island. Board a purpose built vessel to explore the rugged coastline of Bruny Island. See the region’s remarkable wildlife, including seabirds, seals, dolphins and whales (seasonal). Four Day Tassie Highlights Tour

Cradle Magic - Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake
Journey north to experience the magic of Cradle Mountain National Park. We begin our afternoon with a visit to the historic village of Ross (please note that Ross will not be included on some tours). Then onto fertile farmlands and Launceston for our overnight stop. Day two includes a visit to Sheffield en-route to the World Heritage Area and Cradle Valley. Your guides local knowledge and interpretation will enhance your enhance your experience. Stopping at the Visitor Centre before taking a walk around Dove Lake or some free walking. Visit Waldheim Chalet before our late afternoon return to Launceston. Deep South - Cockle Creek and Hastings Caves
Journey to the 'End of The Road'. We make our way through the Huon Valley and south to Cockle Creek at the edge of Recherche Bay. Here is the South West National Park and the end of the most Southern road in Australia. Take a walk to Fischer's Point or perhaps a quick swim. Enjoy the serenity this bay provides before a short drive to Hastings Caves where we take a guided tour. The nearby thermal pool can provide a rejuvenating swim. Take the Platypus Walk through the forest before our return to Hobart. Russell Falls, Bonorong Wildlife Park and Mount Wellington
Journey North West along the Derwent Valley though the historic settlement of New Norfolk. Pass through the hop fields of Bushy Park and on to Mount Field National Park. Walk amongst some of the worlds tallest trees in this wilderness wonderland and see beautiful Russell Falls. Our highlights continue as we visit Bonorong Wildlife Park to be guided amongst the animals including Tassie Devils. Continuing along the Eastern shore of the Derwent River we pass Risdon Cove, cross the Tasman Bridge and ascend the road to the summit of Mount Wellington. Experience the view and contrasting landscapes from mountain rainforest to sub alpine. On our return into Hobart we make a stop at Long Beach in Lower Sandy Bay for a different perspective of the Hobart city environment.
