By Seaplane depart Strahan Village for a World Heritage scenic flight to the Franklin and Gordon Rivers. A featured highlight of this tour is a landing on the world-renowned Gordon River. Here you may choose to take a short easy walk past the ancient Huon Pine trees to Sir John Falls, or just sit on the dock and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this majestic river.

By aeroplane, depart Strahan Aerodrome and fly to Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair World Heritage Area. Highlights include Cradle Mountain, Dove Lake, Lake St Clair, Mt Ossa, the highest mountain in Tasmania and Fury Gorge, the deepest gorge in Australia.

By Helicopter departing from our Strahan village helipad you have a choice of two flights: the Teepookana Huon Pine Forest tour taking you over dense rainforests to the top of the King River Gorge. A featured highlight is a landing at Teepookana Forest in the midst of 2000 year old Huon Pine trees.

Or the Hells Gates/Macquarie Harbour tour includes views of Cape Sorell Lighthouse, Hells Gates, Ocean Beach and Macquarie Harbour.

Helicopter Scenic Flight - Hells Gates/Macquarie Harbour Tour
Departing from the Strahan waterfront helipad you will pass along the 35 kilometre stretch of Ocean Beach before flying over the ominously named Hells Gates. Rounding the treacherous narrow entrance you will then view the rugged coastline ships have to navigate on the entrance to Macquarie Harbour. Other highlights on this tour are views of the Cape Sorell Lighthouse, the second tallest lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere.
Helicopter Scenic Flight - Teepookana Huon Pine Forest Tour
From Strahan you will fly over dense rain forests and mountains and down into the King River Gorge before landing at Teepookana Forest Reserve. During the short break you can climb the forest rangers viewing tower, for a 360 degree view of Macquarie Harbour and mountain ranges. From Teepookana you descend into the Gorge and fly down river to Macquarie Harbour with views to Hells Gates and the Henty Sand Dunes. The return flight follows the route of the West Coast Wilderness Railway. Flight duration one hour.
Aeroplane Scenic Flight - Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair World Heritage Area Tour
Depart Strahan Aerodrome and fly to Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair World Heritage Area. We fly past Queenstown climbing over the lunar landscape of Mt Lyell and past the picturesque Lake Burbury to Mt Olympus. We then overfly Lake St Clair and the beginning of the Overland Track. We pass through the spectacular cirque of mountains – The Acropolis – before rounding Mt Ossa, the highest mountain in Tasmania. Following Mt Pelion and Mt Oakley we then round Cradle Mountain to reveal Dove Lake, Crater Lake and Fury Gorge, the deepest gorge in Australia. We view Barn Bluff and Eildon Peak and fly over Lake Margaret, the first Hydro dam in Tasmania with the unique King Billy Pine pipelines before we return to Strahan.
Seaplane Scenic Flight - Gordon River Tour
Depart Strahan village by Seaplane for a scenic flight to the Franklin & Gordon Rivers. A featured highlight of this tour is a landing on the world renowned Gordon River. Other attractions on this exciting tour include panoramic views of Hells Gates and Sarah Island. Enjoy views of Frenchmans Cap as we join the Franklin River at Mt McCall. After viewing the white waters of the Franklin River you then experience a landing on the Gordon River and take a short walk past the ancient Huon Pine, myrtle and rainforest undergrowth to St John Falls, or you may choose to just sit on the dock and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this majestic river. Departing the 800ft deep Gordon River Gorge we follow the river to Macquarie Harbour and return to Strahan via the eastern side of the harbour past historic Kelly Basin and the King River.
