Return to Esperance

Mackenzies Island Cruises operate daily wildlife cruises amongst the beautiful close islands of the Recherche Archipelago. Travel aboard the new luxury 24 metre catamaran 'MV Seabreeze II', which offers superb comfort and viewing opportunities from three levels. Regular wildlife sightings of dolphins, seals and seabirds with a full commentary offer visitors an insight into this wonderful marine environment. Daily cruises stop off at Woody Island, a nature reserve where day visits include morning tea and a short guided walk. Full day visits available during September to April.

Stay longer and enjoy all that this beautiful island has to offer. Overnight eco-stays in safari hut accommodation are open during October to April. Nestled amongst the eucalypts, elevated safari huts allow guests to experience the native bush whilst overlooking the ocean. Modern facilities include a large visitor centre with kiosk, souvenirs and interpretive display; a camper's kitchen with BBQ's, fridges and deck area; and children's playground. A swimming platform with waterslide, underwater viewing aboard "Miss Woody II" - 30 passenger glass bottom boat, and an underwater snorkel trail makes this Bay an aquatic playground. Fishing and bushwalking are other options or you can just sit back and relax in this tranquil setting.

Mackenzie's Island Cruises, a family owned business that has operated from Esperance for over 50 years, lease a portion of the Island from the Department of Conservation and Land Management and all bookings for tours and accommodation are coordinated by them.
