The drive down along the Great Ocean Road is spectacular and Lorne is a very special place to be. My Mum recently turned the big 60 and thought it would be nice to rent a house down at Lorne for the weekend with the family.

The drive down along the Great Ocean Road is spectacular and Lorne is a very special place to be. My Mum recently turned the big 60 and thought it would be nice to rent a house down at Lorne for the weekend with the family.

What a brilliant idea!  The house we rented was perched at the top of a hill and had sweeping views of the Lorne bay from the pier, all the way around.

We had lots of family fun down on the foreshore trampolines - they were an absolute hit!  We enjoyed the beach, built sandcastles for squashing and holes to bury people in.  Hubby enjoyed some surfing.

I think one of the things I really like about Lorne is that in a time of drought - everything was quite green and picturesque.  Lots of flora and fauna to enjoy.

We headed off around mid morning from Lorne heading to Anglesea for some lunch.  We discovered a gorgeous beach that we had never really noticed before called Point Roadknight along the way.  The beach was well protected from the wind - but still has a little surf.  For the little kids there is heaps of 30-40cm water to swim in - that was quite warm.  Will be going back there for sure over summer...

Lorne
Lorne Victoria is one of Victoria's most attractive coastal resort towns. With its Mediterranean feel and picture-postcard scenery, this beautiful seaside town has been attracting visitors for more than a century. Set between the waters of Loutit Bay and the cool Otway forests, Lorne has a charm that’s hard to surpass. The mild weather superb cafes, unique shops, boutiques and galleries make it one of the Great Ocean Road's most popular holiday destinations.
