Collingwood Childrens farm, a great day out with the kids only minutes from Melbourne's CBD.

Collingwood Childrens farm is only 5km from the city, near the Yarra River and has seven hectares of paddocks, gardens, orchards, rustic buildings and shady trees.

Established in 1979 the Collingwood Children's Farm is a not-for-profit community resource providing country experiences for city people.

There are calves and lambs in spring, lots of child friendlyish... chickens, goats, pigs, horses, guinea pigs, rabbits for patting or pointing at.

According to the brochures: "Visitors can milk the cow twice a day, bottle feed young lambs, wander around, feed the animals, help with farm chores, go into the paddocks with the sheep and goats, cuddle a guinea pig, waddle with the ducks, feed the chooks, look for eggs or just sit and unwind under a shady tree or on the banks of the Yarra river."

We have been to the Collingwood Childrens farm on several occasions be it any time of year and always found it a great way to spend half a day. The cafe is excellent and a good place to feed the kids and take a rest.
