Mothers Day Classic around The Botanical Gardens
This Mothers Day, I wanted to do something a bit different with the family and thought it would be nice to help others and go for a lovely walk...we participated in the Mother Day Classic around The Botanical Gardens. It is a huge event and organised extremely well. 65,000 people involved this year at and the event raised money for breast cancer research. More than 3 million dollars has been raised by this regular event since 1998. I was very proud to be supporting such a wonderful event and important cause.
We caught the train into the city at around 8am. It was the kids first time on a train and they were very excited. Got off at Spencer Station, enjoyed some coffees to warm us up and headed over to the start line. Waited for our numbers to be called and away we went. Had some minor dramas with Jess wanting to go home and then wanting to walk and not walk, walk, then seeing someone dressed up as a princess in another direction!! But we made it around the 4km track in easy time. Caught the wrong train home, but managed to get home eventually. Next year will definately be there again.

Meander along the mall and down the surrounding streets and view some of Melbourne's most historic buildings, such as St Paul's Cathedral, Flinders Street Station, Young and Jackson's Hotel and Melbourne Town Hall.
