A truly surprising experience
The Channon is a favourite stop in our road travels through the north of NSW when the markets are on, but ventured there recently when they weren't. We happened upon The Channon Gallery and decided to kill some time there, but as soon as we walked in we realised we had stumbled upon a real destination to view exemplary artworks!
This gallery looks beautiful - lovely floors and lighting - but the work that was on exhibit had us gobsmacked! There was a photography exhibition in the front spaces by a local lady with an international career and reputation and a group exhibition in the huge space in the rear of the building. We were particularly taken with the photography by Sue Adler and spent about 45 minutes perusing it. The owners were only to happy to answer our questions about some of the work and plied us with a couple of coffees as we were there so long.
Great work out the back of the gallery as well and so beautifully displayed.
This is a real gallery, folks, and not something that we have seen in that region of NSW before.
We are not sure if the quality is the same with all of their exhibitions, but from what we saw the quality is the equal of any metropolitan art gallery - and we've seen a few - often!
Very pleased with the piece we bought too. Great value!
