Beechworth
Located in the foothills of the Alpine region and 270km NE of Melbourne, this well-preserved 1850s goldfields' town is famous for its fine honey-coloured granite buildings. Over 30 buildings are classified by the National Trust; the town is also notable for its colourful autumn foliage.
