Located close to the refurbished waterfront are two of Geelong’s premier tourist attractions. Both are modern museums, unique within Australia. Each museum showcases a particular industry that has been central to Geelong’s economy and also has been of incalculable national significance.
Surf's Up

Bells Beach is probably Australia’s most famous surfing beach. It was even mentioned in the Keanu Reaves surfing/action movie Point Break, as the site of a huge break.
Paying a Visit

Hard to believe a toilet block has become an artistic attraction worth going out of your way to see, but the public convenience at Bells Beach is certainly is that.
Muloorina Station

Muloorina Station is about 54km from Marree and not far from Lake Eyre South. Muloorina allows visitors to bush-camp along the banks of the Frome River, which has water in it due to the flow of a bore. It is said to have great bird life and also has an access road to Lake Eyre.
Muloorina: birdwatching
by Garry — last modified 2009-06-30 02:32
Dawn was just outside the back of our campertruck. I opened the doors, curled up under my sleeping bag, and watched the sun rise over the water of Frome River. It was peaceful and beautiful.

We spent the day whale-watching back at the Head of Bight. The whales delighted us in so many ways.
Red Hill

Red Hill is a great spot to view Canberra. Along with Mount Ainslie and Black Mountain, it rates a mention in Margaret Wade's Canberra's Secrets as a top place to get a sense of the city. One writer, Kevin Cole, is quoted as saying: "like the seven hills of Rome, we've got the three hills of Canberra".
Eumundi - Kevin Rudd's birthplace
by Garry — last modified 2008-02-06 17:16
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was born in Eumundi on 21 September 1957, the youngest of four children.
Barfold - William Alexander Watt's Birthplace
by Garry — last modified 2008-10-17 23:12
W.A. Watt was born at Barfold, near Kyneton, on 23 November 1871. While a former Victorian Premier, Australian Treasurer, Speaker of the House of Representatives and acting Prime Minister for a 16-month period (1918 -19) when Billy Hughes was overseas, Watt has largely been written out of the history books.
Brisbane - I was impressed
by Garry — last modified 2008-10-20 23:04
I recently stayed with my wife and two young children just across the road from the Botanical Gardens. In some ways, I was there by accident, my wife attended a conference and I tagged along. But Brisbane impressed me as a city.
Hooked on Paperchain
by Garry — last modified 2008-11-17 20:54
The Paperchain Bookstore is billed as one of Canberra's leading independent book stores and, from my experience, that would have to be about right.
