Phillip Island Trip - Day One
Day One - Thursday 2nd January 2008
As always, we said to ourselves that we would have the kids up, fed, clothed and the car packed early so we could make the most of the day down at the beach. Good intentions, though it never works out that way.
We finally got away and headed down to Phillip Island arriving at our destination (Cowes) around lunch time (approx 2 hours from Melbourne).
Phillip Island takes on a hole different look this time of year. The landscape is dotted with large hay bales and the recent rains have given the paddocks a green tinge. The setting gives you a feeling that you have really left the city behind.
The weather was very warm so after lunch we headed to the beach for a swim, though the wind was blowing fiercely so we walked around the shore to 'Red Rocks'. Here we found some reprieve from the gale so we settled in, set the boy onto the sand whilst Jess went swimming with Grandma.
After Tom had consumed most of the beach and Jess and Pam had enjoyed a dip, we returned home for a relaxing evening, bbq.
