Australia: Love at first sight - Perth
1995 Esme & Nick's Australian Travel Diary (April to August)
We arrived in Perth the day 22nd of April 1995 at 2:00 am, after a Zurich-London-Singapore-Perth very long flight!
We (my husband - at that time just boy-friend! – and I) were tired but excited. It was warm and people was so kind although it was so late!
A new World! That we loved immediately!
A Taxi took us to the School and Hotel were we slept the first 2 nights (or days), it took us a week to get used to the new time zone!
We spent the first 4 months learning english in the Milner International College of English in Perth (at that time it was on Adelaide Terrace).
During the week-ends we visited Fremantle, Cotesloe Beach, the Underwater World, The Cohunu Wildlife Park, Rottnest Island, The Wave Rock, The Yanchep NP, Albany, Cape Leeuwin, York.
Fremantle and Rottnest Island are a must go!
Cotesloe Beach is very nice.
The Cohunu Wildlife Park is nice and we took a picture of our selves embracing a Koala!
We tried to do Wahle watching in Albany but we saw sealions instead… not so bad!
To the Wave Rock is a long way… but I liked it!
The old style town of York is very nice, and we also found a small animal farm there.
We did a 2 days trip on horse back through the Yanchep NP… for me was too much… I don’t ride horses… and I fell down!
At the end of our Perth experience we bought a car and we started our trip heading North, looking for higher temperatures!
It was the day 15th of August 1995
to be continued...

Perth CBD and Suburbs
- Exploring Perth's CBD is an easy task. The city is compact and well planned, even though its location on a broad stretch of the Swan River gives it a spacious feeling. In addition, Perth has one of the best public transport systems in the country. Perhaps the best place to start is the western edge of the CBD, in Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens. Other interesting attractions of the CBD area include the Fire Safety Education Centre and Museum in the original Perth City Fire Station; Francis Burt Law Education Centre and Museum near the Supreme Court Gardens.
