Our little slice of paradise.. camping at Yea on the Goulburn River.

My family has been visiting Yea, around 1 hours drive from Lilydale in Victoria's east, for as long as I can recall. I have taken over the mantle and now bring my family here as regularly as I can.

Yea is built on a small farming community. The Goulburn river runs through some of the properties in the area and we are fortunate enough to maintain a long relationship with one of these farmers, who allows us to camp on his property, down on the rivers edge.

I can't speak more highly of the setting. The land is cleared to allow for an expansive camp to be set up, and we take advantage of this by rigging up as many tents and shades that we can lay our hands on.

A typical day at Yea consists of waking, breakfast, sitting, talking, drinking, fishing and for the adventurous, floating down the river... that about covers it. Yet we still manage to stay here for weeks and never seem to find a dull moment.

When the need arises to venture back into civilization, be it for supplies or something to eat, the township of Yea is well equipt and the pub is great for a meal.

I can't wait to get back there again and just writing this review is giving me itchy feet. Maybe Easter?
