Circular Quay & The Rocks, Sydney.
Instead of getting lost for a change, I had a very enjoyable time spent around Circular Quay, The Rocks area of Sydney whilst there last.
I had never spent much time in looking around Sydney in the few occasions I have been there. I was always daunted by the size and pace of it and was worried about getting lost crossing the bridge or catching a ferry to Tasmania instead of Manly!
Circular Quay was one of the first places the First Fleet landed in Sydney Harbour back in 1788 and today it must look very different, however standing and looking over the harbour here is an exciting view.
The day I spent there I had a slow look around the restored old buildings from the earliest of days, the cobble-stoned laneways and cottages are now quaint shops who sell anything and everything and apparently on weekends there are Markets down here somewhere.
Playfair Street is supposed to have great examples of workmans cottages however I was to preoccupied to take in the lane names, but they all looked great today. I grabbed a coffee and watched the many visitors taking in the perspective of Circular Quay, Sydney harbour and surrounds.
In the evening we went out to dinner at a local restaurant which was great and the area had a vibrant energy about it, we didn’t go to the expensive Rockpool but our service was still top-notch. It was relatively busy on the weeknight and I can imagine on weekends down here it would get very busy in the pubs and cafes that are situated around the Rocks precinct.
If I where to visit again, I would do a bigger walk with some friends around Circular Quay to the Harbour Bridge, where there is information about the convict origins of this area.
So after a few weak experiences to Sydney I can recommend that Circular Quay is a good spot experience the cosmopolitan area of this old part of the Sydney and to enjoy some interesting harbour views while sipping a coffee. I hope you enjoy it too.

Sydney CBD and Suburbs
- Sydney's CBD stretches from Sydney Cove, in the north, to Central Railway Station in the south. The best way to explore the city is on foot and by public transport. Try to avoid taking a car into the city; not only is there a lot of traffic, but parking is scarce and what is available in the city's car parks is expensive.
