A sheep shearer is yet another example of a traditional Aussie icon and is probably the most physically demanding job that a person could perform, so its no wonder that these highly-talented professionals with colourful characters enjoy legendary status in Australia.

If you have ever wanted to get a closer look at a shearer in action you can either go to a local agricultural show where they usually have shearing demonstrations, or travel to 'Hay' in NSW and visit the 'Shear Outback' centre or if your simply traveling around this wonderful country of ours, just keep an eye out in the rural areas for sheds surrounded by freshly shorn sheep, a few utes (utility vehicles) and a hive of activity.

You'll find that most farmers and shearers alike are more than happy for you to pop in and watch a real shearing shed in action, as long as you don't get in the way of course. You may even get to shear one yourself...
