Has Port Douglas changed from when I travelled there with my mum in 1996, then travelled there again in 2007?

Cairns 1996 - 2007

My mum had come come from Italy in 1959, and had never had the opportunity to travel.  When I wanted to travel to Far North Queensland in 1996, I decided to take my mum with me.  From Melbourne, you catch a Flight to Cairns,   we staying Cairns for a couple of days and just had a look around.  Cairns in 1996 was nothing but Mud Flats.  You walk down the Beach, and there is nothing to see.  Cairns is quiet and there is not much to do.

We then Board a Bus, take a one hour trip and go to Port Douglas.  Whilst in Port Douglas with my mum in 1996, we could see couples that were buzzing around on motorbikes and realised that there must have been a place to hire out MotorBikes in Port Douglas.  I am travelling with my mum, I don't have a MotorBike Licence and can never imagine going around on a MotorBike with my mum on the back of the Bike.  We do all the things that Tourist do.  We go to The Great Barrier Reef for the day (the coral is such a gorgeous colour), we do the RainForest Day Trip, we go to Cape Tribulation and go down to the Marina.  It was so much fun, it was one of those holidays that my mother never forgot.  It was the best holiday that one can hope for, and as an adult daughter, I am so grateful to had the chance to take my mum on a holiday that she would never forget.

When I meet my boyfriend, a few years after we are back from our Holiday I can't stop talking about how wonderful Port Douglas is.  My boyfriend has never been to Port Douglas, I finally manage to make him want to go to Port Douglas so we plan another trip to Far North Queensland.

It will be a different sort of holiday, travelling with your boyfriend whom you adore, and your boyfriend has a Motorbike licence.
