The Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre offers Visitor Information for travellers to Naracoorte and the limestone coast region. One of the most popular attractions in the town is the Naracoorte Swimming Lake....

The Naracoorte Swimming Lake was constructed in the early 1960s by a group of Town's people who donated their time and land to build the lake. It was handed over to Council to run after it was finished. The lake holds 11 million litres of water and ranges from 1m to 2m deep in the middle of the pool.

It is seven times the size of an Olympic Swimming Pool. It has a concrete floor and walls, reticulated and chlorinated water, a safety fence, a canteen, an ammenities block, a beach and lifeguards when the temperature reaches over 25 degrees. Enjoy the lawns, shady trees, playground and barbeque facilities.

The whole area is an alcohol free zone and there are no animals allowed in this area. Open 1st December to 31st March. The perfect place to cool off on a hot Summer day!

Location: Moore St, Naracoorte. SA 5271. For Further Information Contact: Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre Phone: 08 87621399

Naracoorte
Around 330km from Adelaide, Naracoorte is at the geographical heart of the Limestone Coast region. Settled in the 1840s, the area is famous for its World Heritage-listed and fossil-filled limestone caves. Primary industries include sheep, beef cattle, grains and vineyards. The name 'Naracoorte' is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning 'running water'.
