At the border, we gave up the last of our fresh fruit and veggies. We had given our honey away the day before, another item that is confiscated due to risk of fruit fly. No worries, it was only about 700km to the next store with fresh food. We stayed in Eucla that night, just 62km beyond the S.A. and W.A Border Village.

Border Village is barren, and I would suggest going on to Eucla.  From Eucla, it is well worthwhile taking the 4km drive down to the old telegraph station.  The building is a stone ruin, being swallowed up by the fine, ivory sands.  The sand dunes here are just gorgeous: like mounds of satin.  The sand held the tracks of other visitors: tiny birds, an emu, and a kangaroo.
