Olive Harvest Celebration Combines with Arts Workshops in 2009
Olive Harvest Celebration Combines with Arts Workshops in 2009 will be a celebration of olive harvest at Worendo Grove...
The Arts and Olives at Lost World Festival, planned by BADCAP (Beaudesert and District Community Arts Projects) in conjunction with the Lost World Tourism Group, for April 2009, will be a celebration of olive harvest at Worendo Grove and an excellent opportunity for creative minds and hands to take part in the arts workshops offered.
Workshops involving a variety of disciplines are planned and these should include favourites like basket making, mosaic and pottery as well as the more dramatic blacksmithing and horn and pewter.
As in 2008, workshops will be of two to three hours duration and participants can choose to pay for morning, afternoon or whole day participation. Several exciting children’s workshops are also planned and these will be free after a $5 entry fee is paid.
There will be no need to book olive oil tasting workshops and expert oil judge Ian Roy has agreed to share his great fund of knowledge. We’re hoping that there will be fruit to pick in 2009 and pickling recipes to share, but the weather will determine this.
A gourmet bar b que and finger food are planned to accompany the tastings of wine, cheese and olives, with gelato and excellent coffee to follow.
Chill out by the creek and enjoy the music. Great artists have been booked and a song writing competition is planned.
The 2008 festival was a remarkably happy event for both children and adults who could enjoy the satisfaction of creative constructive activity in the beautiful setting of the olive grove spanning the bubbling chill of the Albert River.
The date claimed for this event is Sunday April 26th 2009 and the day will be a wonderful opportunity for both locals and visitors to discover the green valleys and dramatic mountains of Lost World Valley at the wilderness end of Lamington National Park.
A date for the diary!! Sunday April 26th 2009.
